Call us for completions for all applications, including Special Mission, Air Medical, Executive Transport, and Multi-Mission.
We serve the helicopter industry in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex (Hurst, TX). Heli-Dyne also has locations in Scotsdale, Arizona and Pittsburgh, P.A. to better serve you. Heli-Dyne Systems: A Brief History and OverviewOver twenty years ago a concept was formulated and a Company born that today is known around the world as Heli-Dyne Systems, a name synonymous with the helicopter industry. It was the belief of its founder, Freelon "D" Tullos, that there was a need for a dedicated, comprehensive helicopter support facility, a facility that would offer the level of service previously only available through large FBO's or completion facilities for fixed wing aircraft. Tullos, in realizing the unique character of the helicopter, the growth potential of this segment of the aviation industry and the ever expanding roles that rotary wing aircraft would play saw an opportunity and seized it. Starting modestly with hangers in Addison, Texas and then moving in 1981 to its present location, HDS today occupies over 22,000 square feet of office and hanger space on six acres in the heart of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Since its inception, HDS has contributed materially to the development and expansion of the industry. Over the years literally thousands of helicopters have flowed through the HDS facilities in Hurst before ultimately finding their way to their new owners and homes. Aircraft with modifications designed and executed by HDS personnel are operating today throughout the world on nearly every continent, performing every conceivable mission: air medical, executive transport, utility and special mission. To the Company's great credit are some 133 single and multiple Supplemental Type Certificate's (STC's) for almost every make and model of turbine powered helicopter in service today! Heli-Dyne Systems is not just a completions and modification facility, it is much more, the Company is also a factory authorized service center for Bell Helicopter Textron and American Eurocopter for both Aerospatiale and MBB product lines, Agusta, MD Helicopters, Inc. and Schweizer. Since its inception in the late 70's. HDS as a service center has offered a comprehensive array of services to include: warranty administration, spare parts sales, component overhaul, avionics repair, maintenance support and on a limited basis engine and airframe repair. Major accomplishments include a number of firsts. Most noteworthy perhaps is that HDS was selected by Ross Perot Jr. To prepare his Bell JetRanger, "Spirit of Texas", for the record setting, first circumnavigation of the globe by a helicopter, that aircraft resides today at the Smithsonian's Museum of Air & Space in Washington, DC. Much of the systems technology found in helicopters today was pioneered by HDS and its people. The automatic flight control systems (AFCS) used by todays most advanced search and rescue (SAR) helicopters were designed, installed and first flown at HDS and over the years three other AFCS's on Generation III helicopters have received FAA certification. A particular area of specialization has been advanced avionics for both communications and navigation in civil and military rotorcraft. Heli-Dyne Systems is recognized as a center of excellence and ranks annually among the top ten installation facilities in the world. In keeping with the original charter, HDS continues to lead the way for the industry by moving aggressively into the field of "visionics" and advanced cockpit design, The Company's work with heads up display (HUD) technology has lead to the first certification on a commercial helicopter. However, it does not end there, it just begins because the HUD forms the basis for what is rapidly becoming known as "synthetic" or "enhanced Vision", offering flight crews a "magic window". In the not too distant future with the addition of infrared, millimeter wave radar and global positioning sensors an all weather, 24 hour a day mission capability will be realized. It may seem that a considerable amount of emphasis has been placed on the front end of the aircraft and the Company's accomplishments over the years, and while this is true, equal amount has been directed at the aircraft and the development of specialized mission equipment. Here again, HDS has led the way with the design and manufacture of many systems that have made the helicopter such a versatile aircraft. As an example, the most advanced patient loading system, the Dual Pivoting Litter, found in over 150 EMS aircraft operating worldwide was designed by engineers at Heli-Dyne Systems. Additionally, technology previously developed for either NASA or the Department of Defense are regularly employed by HDS to meet the ever changing mission requirements of our Clients. Whether it is kits for a "Nightsun", high density litter systems, rappel bars, rescue hoists, aircraft seating, thermal imagers or the ultra quiet "cocoon" interior system, most likely it will have an HDS label. As Heli-Dyne Systems, the newest member of the Corporate Jets family of Companies, moves toward the future it is growing to meet the increasing needs of its Clients worldwide. The Company slogan penned almost twenty years ago by "D" Tullos "Everything for helicopters and the people who fly them" is alive today at Heli-Dyne Systems. Heli-Dyne System Quality Assurance Program
The Quality Assurance Program at HDS has been developed and implemented to meet or exceed the already high standards of the US aerospace industry. To that end all work including modifications of aircraft and related systems, manufactured parts and the overhaul of components at Heli-Dyne Systems are performed to the exacting US military inspection criteria as defined by:
Schedule of InspectionThe quality program at Heli-Dyne Systems assures that all production operations and all processing and fabrication is accomplished under controlled conditions. By definition these controlled conditions include documented work instructions used by production and manufacturing personnel, insuring that adequate production equipment is available and that any special working environment is taken into consideration. Documented work instructions establish the criteria for production processing and fabrication work. These instructions constitute the criteria necessary for the determination of acceptable or unacceptable "workmanship." Heli-Dyne Systems quality assurance program monitors the issuance of and compliance with all work instructions. Client InspectionThe Client will be notified prior to completion of the contract so that a convenient time may be established of material or the aircraft and systems being modified. It is recommended that on projects of extended duration that Periodic reviews be conducted as deemed mutually necessary by HDS and the Client coincident with critical design points or major milestone events. Method of AcceptanceThe Heli-Dyne Systems quality program assures a comprehensive final inspection and test of all completed products and services. The inspection and test program provides a qualitative and when necessary a quantitative measure of the overall quality of the finished product. Included in the tests and inspections conducted by the quality assurance group are simulated designed, to replicate the manner in which a product should function in day to day operation. If during the final inspection or testing phase it is determined that modifications, repairs or replacements are required, there will be reinspection and retesting of any item that is found to be deficient. Only after HDS quality assurance personnel have completed their inspection may the Client inspect and accept the product or aircraft. Resolving DiscrepanciesDeficiencies identified by the Client that fail to meet their signed engineering rendering or quotation will be corrected to meet agreed specifications. Changes requested by the Client will be documented on a Client Change Request (CCR) form and signed by Client before proceeding with any changes.
Client will be credited for the price of any time not installed per contract.
